Villagers led by sarpanch’s husband attack T forest officials, 6 injured

Hyderabad: Six forest officials suffered injuries when a group of villagers led by sarpanch’s husband attacked them after they were caught illegally transporting stones from jungles at Nalgonda district on Thursday

Forest officials said the teams were patrolling the jungles at Mudimanikyam village of Adavidevulapally Mandal when they intercepted two tractors, On inquiry, they found stones from the forest being transported and asked them to show the documents.

When they failed to produce documents, the forest staff seized the vehicles and decided to shift those to Miryalaguda.

Sometime later the drivers returned along with a big group armed with sticks led by Mudimanikyam village Sarpanch’s husband arrived at the spot and demanded the return of vehicles.

As the forest staff refused, the group attacked them with sticks.

Around six persons sustained injuries and were admitted to the hospital. A complaint has been lodged by forest staff at Adavidevulapally police station.
