VIP ward in Gandhi Hospital to treat Corona Virus

Hyderabad: With the deadly Corona virus having already taken a toll in excess of 1,000 people in China and has infected people belonging to 24 countries, the Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad has now started VIP treatment exclusive to cater to the disease and the fear it has been causing.

The treatment in the seven-bedded Corona VIP ward started in the seventh floor of the main building. They have also made necessary arrangements to add some more beds to cater to exigencies.

In the emergency cell, ten beds have been arranged in the Corona acute medical care department, 20 beds in the main section with two isolation wards.

Family members of the higher officials in the police department and air hostesses have come to the hospital suspecting Corona virus infection. They were admitted in the isolation ward.

As of now, Gandhi Hospital has rooms against payments but arrangements of converting other furnished rooms to Corona VIP wards are also going on as Gandhi Hospital is the nodal centre for Corona virus, Superintendent Sravan Kumar told the media.

He also instructed lab technicians to be present in every ward as soon as a patient is admitted. He said facilities like portable X-Ray machine, radiographer and nurses and patient care takers should be present in every ward.

He instructed RMOs, specialist doctors, nurses and patient caretakers to educate officials at the help desk. He also said that 43 people, who were admitted doubting Corona virus have been discharged after they tested negative. He said that the hospital had discharged a patient suffering from Swine-flu on Monday and four more patients are being treated.
