Hyderabad: A video clip showing a phone-happy nurse reportedly working at the state-run Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad has gone viral. It shows the staffer browsing her smartphone as she responds to a patient who approached her for some information.
“Wait outside till I come. If it’s an emergency, go and see the doctor,” the nurse is heard saying in the short clip. Clad in uniform, she was seen sitting inside a room, assumed to be allocated for nurses.
Incidents of staff working at state-run hospitals in different parts of the city dedicating themselves to their smartphones, ignoring their duties towards patients have become a routine sight.
While in many cases the negligent employees have faced action, nothing seems to shake them. Earlier a group of physiotherapy students at Gandhi Hospital shot videos for TikTok that went viral, inviting disciplinary action. Similar instances of negligence by staff were also reported from Gandhi and Osmania hospitals.
