He said that the port city tasted the fruits of development when Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy became Chief Minister in 2004 while speaking to media persons at the Party office in Visakhapatnam on Monday.
Mr.Amarnath stated that because the efforts of YSR Vizag got Gangavaram port, Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) and Ramanaidu studio. 'Under the regime of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy, Parvada became a pharmaceutical hub', the MLA recalled. "Achyutapuram SEZ is feeding thousands of youth which is a major success of the then government", he added.
The MLA alleged that the Telugu Desam tried to create hurdles for the Visakhapatnam Railway Zone. The party leaders and (the then) MPS Rayapati Samba Siva Rao, Galla Jayadev and Kesineni opposed the railway zone in Visakhapatnam, said Amarnath. āAfter āHud Hudā, they tried to malign the reputation of the steel city by declaring Visakha āvulnerable to storms as it is a coastal cityā he lamented.
He mentioned the land scam that took place in the previous TD government. "Everybody in the city knows the bigwigs behind the Visakha land scams", he told the scribes. The brand image of Visakhapatnam was damaged by the scams and encroachments by the TD leaders, accused the MLA.
Mr.Amarnath is hopeful that Visakha again will become the centre for progress under the present YSR government. He told the media that Chief Minister YS Jagan is committed to developing the city and it is his top priority. He said that he would request the Commissioner of Police to register cases against those who indulge in land scams. YSR leaders will not be involved in any scams and if anybody uses their names in unlawful activities the police can take action as per the law, Amarnath concluded.
