Vizag based MS Student drowns in the US lake

Visakhapatnam: A youngster from Vizag city, N Sumedh (27), died after he drowned in the Crater Lake, USA, on Sunday. Sumedh was pursuing his MS in Rotobics at Oregon State University, USA.

This is the fourth incident wherein a Visakhapatnam youth has died of drowning in the US. In June this year, a software engineer, Avinash Kuna (32), from Vizag city died in a boat mishap in New Jersey, USA when he reportedly drowned after diving off a rental pontoon boat in Lake Hopatcong. Avinash was a senior systems programmer for United Parcel Service (UPS) in Parsippany and his father K Venkata Rao is a senior foreman (ES and F Wing) with Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, the corporate entity of RINL, here in Vizag city.

A student of Louisiana State University, Joseph Smile (23) from Vizag city also died in a boat mishap in Baton Rouge, USA in September 2010. Similarly, Daniel Navin (26), a software professional from Vizag city working with a Chennai- based company who was transferred to the US, had drowned while boating in May 2010.

Sumedhā€™s father MS Kumar, a senior executive in the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) and former Andhra Pradesh Ranji cricketer said that Sumedh, who had graduated from NIT-Warangal, had worked at Samsung in Bengaluru.

The police retrieved the body from the waters, and if all goes as per plan, the mortal remains of Sumedh will reach Vizag on Saturday. The family members of Sumedh said that Sumedh was a topper in academics and was very innovative. The tragic incident has washed away all his dreams.
