Vizag gas leak: AP CID books 60 YO for FB post against govt

Vijayawada, May 19: Sleuths of Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) have booked 60- year-old woman P Ranganayakamma of Guntur for allegedly posting false comments on social media against the Andhra Pradesh government over LG Polymers gas leak tragedy. CID personnel who issued a noticed to the elderly lady, said that the role of another man M Raghunath is also being probed.

The lady allegedly blamed AP government for the Vishakapatnam gas tragedy.The CID officials have registered a case against Ranganayakamma under section 505 (2), 153 (A), 188, 120-B of IPC and Section 67 of IT Act 2008 and served a notice under Section 41-A of CrPC. The investigation is under progress, officials said. ā€œWe will take action against those who post false comments against the Andhra Pradesh government and provoke public. If Ranganayakamma is proved guilty in the Court, she will be sentenced imprisonment for 3-years, with a fine of Rs 5 lakh. If the same crime repeated, she may face 10 years of imprisonment besides a fine of Rs10 lakh,ā€ the CID officers added.

It may be recalled that the Styrene vapor leak from LG Polymers have claimed 12 lives and over 500 persons were hospitalized. A few netizens have been posting comments on social networking platforms against the Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and YSR Congress party government blaming them for the tragedy.
