Water released into incomplete pipeline flood two apartments at Madinaguda

Hyderabad: Water leaking from an incomplete Manjeera water supplying pipeline led to flooding in two residential apartments located on the highway at Madinaguda, near the city’s IT corridor. It was learnt that the water supply into the pipeline by the officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), even before the works were completed, leading to the flooding. The residents alleged that even after informing officials about the incident, there was no response.



Residents of Mahalaxmi Arcade and Spencers Apartments alleged that it was due to the negligence of the Water Board that their apartments were flooded. According to the residents, when they woke up on Tuesday morning, they found the whole of the cellar filled with water and all the vehicles parked in it completely submerged in water.

According to sources, the leakage began in the wee hours of Tuesday and the water was flowing on to the roads and it filled the cellars of apartments abutting the pipeline. In both the apartments, around 80 cars and more than 100 bikes got submerged in the water, which rose up to 8-feet height.

In the incident, the family of the watchman living in Mahalaxmi Arcade escaped after noticing the water flowing into the cellar. However, their room was submerged and their household articles were found floating in the water.
