Navi Mumbai: A replica of the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala is being built at Ulve in Navi Mumbai.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthnam (TTD) governs the ancient hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala in Tirupati, and TTD is the richest trust of Hindu temples.

Lakhs of devotees from all over the country, including Maharashtra flock to Tirumala temple located in Tirupati district, every year.

Following a request from the Maharashtra chief minister, his Andhra Pradesh counterpart YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had asked the TTD to build the temple of Lord Venkateshwara on the lines of the one in Tirumala.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde performed the 'Bhoomi pooja' of a temple being built on a 10-acre land in Navi Mumbai allotted by the state government to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust.

The Maharashtra government has allotted 10 acres of land for the temple of Lord Balaji at Ulwe in Navi Mumbai. "It's a long pending dream come true for the people of Maharastra," said the Eknath Shinde.

The temple will be built at a cost of Rs 75 crore, and the CMD of Raymond Group Gautam Hari Singhania has come forward to donate Rs.60-75cr towards the construction of the temple on donation. Except the construction, everything will be under the TTD administration.

According to TTD Trust Board Chairman YV Subba Reddy, the construction will be completed within two years.

"The temple will go a long way in fulfilling the desire of thousands of devotees who want to visit Tirumala but are not able to do so for various reasons. People who are not able to visit Tirupati will now have the opportunity to visit this temple," said Shinde.

Features of the temple

The entire temple structure will be built with stone sculptures.

Temple premises will have:

-Pushkarini (sacred temple water tank for taking a holy dip)

-Alankara Mandapam (ritual hall)

-Ratha Mandapam
