When ‘Rowdy’ turned emotional!
By Prakash Aditya Published on 30 Oct 2019 8:30 AM GMTHyderabad: Vijay Deverakonda, affectionately known as ‘Rowdy Hero’ among his Telugu fans, became emotional while recalling his story of struggle before entering the movie industry. Vijay is producing the upcoming comedy thriller ‘Meeku Mathrame Cheptha’ starring director-turned actor Tharun Bhascker Dassyam in the lead role, Abhinav Gomatam and Anasuya Bharadwaj among others in crucial roles.
Vijay, a crowd puller himself, during a promotional event, said that he could not believe, that he is introducing Tharun Bhascker as a protagonist in the movie which is being produced by him.
He said, “A few years ago, I used to watch movie audio functions and pre-release events on our television at home. I used to wonder how the life of these actors and technicians would be. When I would become a celebrity, give speeches and listen to the roar and cheers from fans.”
Vijay went on to say that it was director Nag Ashwin who gave him a break when he was desperately looking for a role in the movie. Yevade Subramaniam gave Vijay his first break as a supporting character. “However, I had no work for nearly a year. Later, Tharun Bhascker came to me with Pelli Chupulu script. Tharun had struggled a lot to bring a producer to bankroll the film. Producer Raj Kandukuri finally bankrolled it. When we are struggling to release the movie, producer Suresh Babu rendered a helping hand to release the film without any hassles. Later, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga had to mortgage his house in Warangal to produce the film ‘Arjun Reddy’ which changed my fortunes forever.

Then it was Parusuram who gave a masterpiece ‘Geetha Govindam’. It is because of several people I can fulfil my dreams and in a formidable position. I owe them so much. Now to make their dreams real, I have come forward to produce the movie. On-screen dreams of several technicians including director Shameer Sultan will soon become a reality,” he said.
