With TS CETs a week away, govt yet to decide on Covid-19 precautionary measures
By Priyali Dhingra Published on 23 Aug 2020 11:52 AM GMTHyderabad: The Telangana government will commence conducting common entrance exams from August 31, starting with the Telangana State Engineering Common Entrance Test (TS ECET). However, the government officials are yet to decide on the measures that should be taken to prevent the spread of Covid-19 when the students come to the exam halls.
Speaking to NewsMeter, C.S Prakash, Deputy Secretary, Telangana State Council of Higher Education, said, "As of now, we are not sure about the precautionary measures that should be followed at the site of exams. We will certainly follow all the Covid protocols necessary to check the spread of the pandemic as the date approaches."
He further said that exams could be conducted as commuter-bases tests (CBTs). An official release from the department also said that the movement of students would be restricted within districts only and that the students will be accommodated as per their preferences.
The dates for Telangana State Common Entrance Tests-2020 were announced on August 22.
Close to 2.2 lakh students will be writing the Telangana State Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS EAMCET), with 55,000 appearing for Telangana Integrated Common Entrance Test (TS ICET), 43,000 appearing for Telangana Education Common Entrance Test (TS EDCET), and 30,000 appearing for Telangana Law Common Entrance Test (TS LAWCET). The students from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh can take the tests.
TS ECET is scheduled to be held on August 31 in two shifts in both Telugu states, and will be conducted by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU).
TS EAMCET (Engineering) will be conducted on September 9, 10, 11, and 14.
Close to 22,000 students will be writing the Telangana PG Engineering Common Entrance Test (TS PGECET), which will be held from September 21 to 24.
TS EAMCET (Agriculture) will be conducted on September 28 and 29.
TS ICET will be conducted on September 31 and October 1, along with TS EDCET being conducted on the latter date. EDCET will also be held on October 3.
The TS LAWCET will be held on October 4.
The updated schedule of the entrance tests was published by education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, in consultation with TSCHE chairman Prof. T. Papi Reddy.
