Woman accuses Ponduru SI of seeking sexual favour to bail her out

Srikakulam: The police in Andhra Pradesh once again came under criticism. In a latest incident, a woman from Ponduru area in Srikakulam district has accused SI of Ponduru police station Kolli Ramakrishna of demanding sexual favours from her to bail her out from an illegal liquor trade case.

On August 22, the police carried a raid on the house of the woman's father at Tungapeta in Ponduru, Srikakulam district, and seized 48 liquor bottles.

However, SI Ramakrishna didn't register a case against the woman and her father. On Sunday, Ramakrishna made a phone call to the woman and asked her to come his residence in Ponduru to discuss the case. He indirectly sought sexual favours from the woman to help her in the case.

Though she made it clear that she wouldn't offer any such favour, the SI reportedly sought sexual favours from her.

Apparently disappointed with the attitude of the SI, she submitted recordings of her conversation with the SI as proof along with her complaint at the Ponduru police station on Monday.

Inspector of Ponduru police station Malleswara Rao said that an enquiry was on into the incident.

However, Srikakulam SP Amit Bardhar suspended SI Ramakrishna and asked the police personnel to submit a comprehensive report on the incident.
