Visakhapatnam: A woman suffered 30 per cent burns after another woman flung acid on her at Samata Nagara in Vizag on Wednesday evening. The police suspect the attack to be the fallout of an extramarital affair.
Victim K Sirisha, who is from Hyderabad, was walking on a road when she was targeted, said the New Port police. She suffered injuries to her hands and face. Sirisha was taken to a private hospital at Gajuwaka where doctors said her condition is stable.
The Vizag police have appealed to the public for information on the attacker, who the victim said was a woman. Sources said an extramarital affair was the reason for the acid attack on Sirisha. The police said they have registered a case and the investigation is on.
In February 2018, Vizag had reported a case of a woman attacking another woman with acid. Accused K Ramanamma, a domestic help, threw the corrosive chemical on her employer Satyavathi at MVP Colony before snatching her gold chain.
