According to sources, the trio, hailing from Pulivendula in Kadapa district, were living in Bengaluru. On Saturday, they started off to Hyderabad.
It was learnt that due to heavy rain and poor weather condition, they took another route to cross the border. In that attempt, they took a diversion before Pulloor and were heading towards Kalugotla village to reach the highway from Telangana side.
Midway, while passing through this route, they had to cross the stream on the outskirts of Kalugotla village in Undavalli mandal.
While crossing the stream, the vehicle got struck in the overflowing water and they could not move ahead. All three of them got down from the vehicle and tried to cross the stream by foot.
While walking, Sindhu Reddy lost balance and fell in the water and was washed away. The other two tried to rescue her but in vain. However, they managed to walk to the bank safely. Meanwhile, the car also got washed away and got stuck in the bushes.
