Woman sentenced to life in 2016 Badangpet murder case
By Newsmeter Network Published on 18 May 2020 12:19 PM GMTHyderabad :A local court in Hyderabad, on 18 May, sentenced a 32-year-old woman to life imprisonment for the murder of a 60-year-old woman in 2016.
Ch. Yadamma worked as a domestic help in the victim Nagalakshmi's house at Venkatadri Nivas in Badangpet. According to the police, Yadamma's husband Balasubramanyam, who is the prime accused in the case, was an auto driver and used to pick up Nagalakshmi's granddaughter from school every day.
On 18 March 2016, Balasubramanyam and his wife, with an intention to steal Nagalakshmi's jewellery, went to her house at around 10:30 a.m when she was alone. Once there, Balasubramanyam requested the victim for a loan of Rs. 2,000. Nagalakshmi agreed to give him the amount and when she went to her room to get the cash, the couple followed her.
Yadamma tied a saree around the woman's neck, her husband pushed the old woman, and she fell down on the floor. Yadamma held both the legs of the victim while Balasubramanyam sat on her chest and beat her with his hands and smashed her head on the floor. The woman suffered from severe head injuries and died on the spot. After that, the duo stole the gold and fled the scene.
The police arrested Yadamma on 7 June 2016 and sent her to judicial remand. Her husband has been absconding and his whereabouts are still unknown.
During the trial at a local court in L.B Nagar on Monday, Yadamma was given a life sentence and a fine of Rs. 4,000 was also imposed. Efforts are on to trace her husband Balasubramanyam
