Woman teacher’s charred body recovered from home in Krishna district

Vijayawada: A charred body of a woman school teacher was found under suspicious circumstances at her home in Kanchikacherla of Krishna district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as fifty-year-old K Nagamani. Locals are suspecting that Nagamani committed suicide by setting herself ablaze.

The police found some petrol in a plastic bottle near the crime scene.

Nagamani was staying in the home alone and her daughter is an employee with Andhra Bank's Bandhar Branch.

Police are yet to establish whether it was a suicide or murder. Locals said that the raging family dispute might have led Nagamani to take the extreme step.

A senior police officer said that they didn't recover any suicide note from her home. “We are probing the case from all angles”, he said.

Police have registered a case of suspicious death under Section 174 of CrPC.

Police said the maid of the house found Nagamani’s body in the morning. She later alerted the locals and the police.
