Yashoda nurse dies by injecting herself with unknown drug

Hyderabad: A 25-year-old nurse working at Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad, was found dead under suspicious conditions in the nursing hostel late on Tuesday night. The victim was identified as Soundarya. Police suspect, she died by suicide, injecting herself with an unknown drug.

A case has been registered at the Market police station and the body was shifted to Osmania Hospital for a post-mortem.

Hailing from Nalgonda district, the 25-year-old woman had been working in the hospital for the past few months. She was living in the hostel provided by the hospital on the same premises.

On Tuesday afternoon, she returned to her room after completing her duty in the morning shift. She remained in the room till night. When she did not step out of her room even in the night, others in the hostel alerted the staff.

The hostel staff, with the help of security personnel, broke open the door and found her lying on the cot in an unconscious condition. Later, police were informed who rushed to the spot and recovered an injection beside her.

The injection was seized for analysis, while her room has been temporarily sealed for investigation. The Clues Team of the Hyderabad city police also visited the place of crime and collected vital clues.

Police also seized some of her belongings and informed about the death to her family members.

While a relationship issue is suspected to have forced her to take the extreme step, all angles are being probed, said the police. Her call data record is also being analysed for clues behind the suicide.
