After four weeks, Andhra Pradesh reports lowest single-day COVID-19 cases
By Newsmeter Network Published on 21 Sep 2020 12:55 PM GMTVijayawada: Andhra Pradesh registered 6,235 COVID-19 cases on 21 September, the lowest number of cases reported in a day in the last four weeks. Meanwhile, the state also reported 51 deaths due to the virus.
The total number of cases now stands at 6,31,749 as of Monday while the death toll has reached 5,410. The last time the state reported less than 7,000 cases in a day was 17 August.
There has been a consistent decline in the number of COVID-19 cases reported per day in Andhra Pradesh which had earlier seen over 10,000 new cases daily.
As many as 10,502 COVID-19 patients recovered from the virus on Monday. At present, AP has 74,518 active cases and 5,51,821 patients have recovered so far. In the past few days, the number of recoveries has outnumbered the number of new infections and the state's recovery rate has reached above 87 per cent. lowest
East Godavari, meanwhile, continued to report more than 1,000 cases in a day. On Monday, the district reported 1,262 new cases, followed by West Godavari (962), and Prakasam (841). Guntur district inched closer towards breaching the 50,000-mark as it reported 49,978 COVID-19 cases.
Of the 51 fatalities on Monday, Krishna district accounted for nine deaths, followed by Chittoor (7), Visakhapatnam (6), Anantapur (5), four deaths each from East Godavari, Guntur, Nellore, and West Godavari districts. While Kurnool district registered three deaths, two deaths each were reported from Kadapa and Prakasam district and one from Srikakulam district.
