Andhra Pradesh reports all- time single day high of 425 COVID-19 cases on Thursday
By Newsmeter Network Published on 18 Jun 2020 8:59 AM GMTVijayawada: Andhra Pradesh on Thursday reported an all- time single day high of 425 new COVID-19 cases while two people died, taking the infection count to 7,496 and death toll to 92.
The two deaths due to COVID-19 were reported from Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.
The officials of the Medical and Family Welfare Department said that a total of 13,923 samples in the state were tested in the past 24 hours and among them 299 people tested positive.
The officials said that another 100 people who returned to parts of Andhra Pradesh from other states and 26 foreign returnees tested positive taking the cumulative total of fresh cases in the state to 425 on Thursday, the biggest single day spike yet.
As many as 131 patients, including 51 people who returned from other states and 3 foreign returnees
recovered from the virus and discharged from the hospital in the state in the past 24 hours.
The total number of those recovered from the coronavirus in the state now stands at 3,772 including 742 people from other states and 47 foreign returnees.
The total number of active Covid-19 cases in the state stands at 3,632 (2,779 from Andhra Pradesh, 611 and 242 from other states and foreign returnees respectively.
On the Covid-19 toll front, Kurnool district has reported 31 Covid-19 deaths followed by Krishna district with 29 deaths and Guntur district with 10 deaths.
While Anantapur, Chittoor and East Godavari districts reported 5 deaths each, four deaths were reported from Nellore district. Vizag and Prakasam districts reported one each Covid-19 death.
So far, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, West Godavari and Kadapa districts havenāt reported any Covid-19 deaths so far.
