APGV Bank employee Divya's killer arrested
By Newsmeter Network Published on 19 Feb 2020 4:01 PM GMTHyderabad: Venkatesh, a resident of Rajanna Siricilla district, who had been accused in the brutal murder of an Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank employee, surrendered before the police on 19 February. He walked into Vemulawada police station and told police he had killed Divya at her home in Gajwel on Tuesday evening.
Venkatesh is an engineering graduate and was searching for a job in Hyderabad. After his surrender, the Rajanna Siricilla police alerted their counterparts at Siddipet, where the crime happened. A special team from Siddipet commissionerate rushed to Vemulawada and detained Venkatesh. He was then taken to Gajwel for further investigation.
Initial inquiries indicate a relationship that turned sour. Venkatesh had proposed to the victim several times, but she had rejected him. Meanwhile, her parents had fixed her marriage with another man and the marriage was scheduled for later this month. Enraged with this decision, Venkatesh decided to kill her. He came to her home on Tuesday evening and stabbed her repeatedly, killing her on the spot.
Police are further questioning Venkatesh about how he planned the murder and how he escaped the spot. They are also investigating if any other person was involved. Police are in the process of recovering the murder weapon. An official announcement on his arrest is likely to be made on Thursday.
