Hyderabad: The body of missing pregnant woman was fished out from the stream three days after she was swept away by floodwaters in Jogulamba Gadwal district of Telangana.
Identified as Naga Sindhu Reddy, she was caught in a strong undercurrent when she tried to cross the stream on Saturday.
Sources said she along with her husband Shiva Kumar Reddy and their friend Jilani Basha were traveling in a car from Bengaluru to Hyderabad. However, due to heavy rain and poor weather conditions, they took a diversion and were heading towards Kalugotla village to reach the highway.
However, their car was stuck in a swollen stream on the outskirts of Kalugotla village in Undavalli Mandal.
All three of them got down from the vehicle and tried to cross the stream on foot. In the process, Sindhu Reddy lost balance and slipped into the water. Her husband and their friend tried to rescue her but in vain. The duo managed to reach the banks safely. Later, the car also got washed away in the swollen stream.
A massive rescue operation was launched and expert swimmers were roped in to trace Sindhu Reddy. On Monday, her body was found struck near the Kurnool railway bridge.
