Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police have made some headway in the suspicious death of a woman near a temple at Siddulagutta in Shamshabad on Saturday.
The police said the woman was captured by a CCTV camera when she was on her way from Shamshabad main road to the spot. The footage shows the woman carrying a bottle, which the police suspect had petrol in it.
Her language offered more clues. Sources said the woman spoke to a few residents in Hindi before she reached the temple. She also had a word with the temple priest and a few other men who were in Ayyappa deeksha. However, they didn't find anything amiss and thought she was there to offer prayers.
Around 8.30 pm, passersby and workers at a nearby shooting location noticed her in flames and tried to rescue her. She died of burns while being shifted to hospital.
The police believe the woman could be a migrant worker from a north Indian state. They are making inquiries in neighbouring localities with migrant populations.
