Coronavirus: Doctors complain over lack of protective gear in Kakinada hospital

Kakinada: More than 150 doctors are at greater risk of contracting infection as hospital authorities have failed to provide them protective gear to tackle the deadly coronavirus.

Kakinada Government General Hospital (KGGH) doctors and paramedics have expressed concern over the lackadaisical attitude of the authorities.

Doctors said they have not been given the personal protection equipment (PPE) despite being at the forefront of treating the COVID 19 suspected cases.

KGGH superintendent Dr. M. Raghavendra Rao said the hospital authorities are following government orders and providing protective gears to the high-risk group of doctors.

Dr. Ramswarop Jawahar, chairman of Sneha hospitals said that they have directed the staff to keep a one-meter distance from the patients who seek medical care for cough, headache, and cold before. ā€œThis is the only option we have at presentā€, the senior physical said.
