COVID 19: Telangana reports 1,451 fresh COVID cases, Nine deaths on Friday
By Newsmeter Network Published on 17 Oct 2020 3:56 AM GMTHyderabad: Telangana reported 1,451 new COVID cases on Friday taking the overall tally to 2,20,675 in the state.
Nine new deaths are reported on October 16 taking the total tally to 1,265. The fatality rate in the state is 0.57 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.5 per cent.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 235 new cases while Rangareddy reported 104 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the increase in cases. Medchal Malkajigiri reported 101 new cases while Khammam reported 71 new cases.
Around 1,983 citizens recovered from the infection on Friday taking the tally of total recoveries to 1,96,636. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 89.1 per cent, which approximately one per cent higher than the national average of 87.7 per cent.
The government tested 42,497 citizens for the virus on Friday. So far 37,89,460 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 1,01,812. Still, 1,174 reports are awaited. 18,698 primary contacts are tested on Friday while 5,099 secondary contacts are tested.
The state currently has 22,774 active cases. Of the total active cases, 18,905 are under home isolation.
Of total positive cases, 70 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress while 30 per cent are symptomatic.
According to the state, men aged between 21 and 40 years contribute to 29.98 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 8.85 per cent of the total cases.
The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 55.04 per cent. 44.96 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.
