COVID 19: Telangana reports 1,842 fresh COVID cases, Six deaths on Sunday

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 1,842 new COVID cases on Sunday taking the overall tally to 1,06,091 in the state.

Six new deaths are reported on August 23 taking the total tally to 761. The fatality rate in the state is 0.71 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.86 per cent.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 373 new cases while Nizamabad reported 158 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the increase in cases. Suryapet reported 113 new cases while Rangareddy reported 109 cases.

Around 1,825 citizens recovered from the infection on Sunday taking the tally of total recoveries to 82,411. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 77.67 per cent, which is approximately three per cent higher than the national average of 74.90 per cent.

The state currently has 22,919 active cases.

The government tested 36,282 citizens for the virus on Sunday. So far 9,68,121 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 26,076.

Of the total cases, 16,482 are under home isolation. Of those, 84 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress.

According to the state, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 16.97 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 8.07 per cent of the total cases.

The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 53.87 per cent. 46.13 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.

Vacancy of beds:

The state currently has 18,020 vacant beds for COVID patients.

Around 11,586 regular beds, 4,823 oxygen beds, and 1,611 ICU beds are lying vacant in different state hospitals.
