By Newsmeter Network Published on 11 Feb 2023 4:01 AM GMTHyderabad: Police have launched an investigation after two car registrations were made in the Regional Transport Office (RTO) without the knowledge of the owner. A criminal case has been registered in Hyderabad's Habeeb Nagar police station.
Sub-Inspector Rama Rao said Mohammed Ifran, a businessman from Gokul Nagar, had bought a new Fortuner vehicle. When he went to the RTO office in Tolichowki to register the vehicle, the staff told him that he would have to pay Rs. 70,000 registration fee extra as he already had two vehicles in his name.
He was very surprised to find that he had never purchased any vehicle. Moreover, it was purchased on a hypothecated loan agreement with Bajaj Finance and Hinduja Leyland Fin Ltd. which he had never applied for and never purchased any vehicle.
He suspected that someone forged his documents and used those for a loan. Upon inquiry, he found that there were numerous traffic challans pending on these vehicles. He obtained photos of the person from the police app. He feared that he may be held responsible for the actions of others.
Sub-inspector informed us that they have registered a case under section 468, 471, and 419 of the Indian Penal Code.
