Drunk BMW driver rams into Royal Enfield in Hyderabad, one dead; Third fatal accident in 48 hrs

Hyderabad: A speeding BMW car reportedly driving in a wrong direction of a road in Madhapur crashed into a Royal Enfield, killing the biker on the spot. K Ashwin Rao (driver) was drunk at the time of the accident. His Blood Alcohol Content showed 185 mg/ml, said the police Investigating the case.

The unfortunate death of the biker, Abhishek Anand comes two days after a speeding car flew off the Bioversity flyover in the city and crushed a woman under the overpass. Notibly, the bulletin proof car of TRS Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao turned turtle, that killed 2 and left 3 persons critically injured. This is the third fatal accident reported in the last 48 hours.

According to the Madhapur police, Abhishek and pillion rider were on their way towards Kondapur when they were hit near Novotel hotel in the early hours of November 25th ( Monday) . The BMW was coming from the opposite direction, which is not allowed on that particular road. The driver was not only drunk but also travelling in the wrong direction, police said.

While the car driver escaped unhurt as he had the seat belt on him, the incident left the pillion rider of the two-wheeler injured. This is a repeat of the Biodiversity flyover accident where in the driver escapes with injuries but other are killed.

In another incident reported on November 10, a techie driving under the influence of alcohol had rammed his car into two scooters on the Biodiversity flyover, killing two persons and leaving four injured.

As per the data recently released by the National Crime Records Bureau, Hyderabad saw the highest number of drunk driving deaths among 53 urban areas in the country.
