Due to a lack of scripts that suit their age, senior Telugu actors’ rely on nothing but remakes
By Newsmeter Network Published on 13 Nov 2019 4:05 PM GMTHyderabad: While they are still popular among fans and others alike, senior actors such as Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, and Victory Venkatesh rely on remakes to churn out movies. Reportedly, their upcoming projects include many remakes.
Going into details, Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan has officially bought the remake rights of Malayalam film Lucifer. At the same time, Venkatesh has been roped in to play the lead role of Asuran, a Tamil blockbuster film that featured Dhanush in the lead. Suresh Babu bought the remake rights of the Vetrimaaran-directorial. Kalaipuli S Thanu, the producer of the Tamil original and Suresh Babu will jointly produce the Telugu remake.
Nagarjuna has a couple of films in his kitty, and reportedly, he is going to remake Ajay Devgn’s Raid. However, it has not been made official yet. Sources confirmed that the actor is keen on remaking the film.
During the promotions of Manmadhudu 2, the actor agreed that it is difficult to get stories that suit his age. He added that unlike other young actors, he couldn’t romance heroines half his age, because audiences aren’t ready to watch him do that. At the same time, he said he couldn’t try to compete with his sons. Nagarjuna made it very clear that senior actors are finding it difficult to bag good scripts as upcoming directors give challenging scripts to young actors.
Not many actors are brave enough to make such statements that might affect their image. For example, the industry is rife with speculations on which actress have been roped in to play the leading lady in Chiranjeevi’s next with Koratala Siva. Due to the actor’s age, the makers weren’t able to find the perfect heroine.
Such circumstances have become common for senior actors. Meanwhile, the buzz is that Ravi Teja’s next film, directed by Gopichand Malineni, is a remake of Vijay Sethupathi’s Sethupathi. However, it hasn’t been made official yet.
