Fact Check: Claims that CRPF shot, killed civilian in Kashmir is false

The incident occurred in north Kashmir's Sopore where militants attacked CRPF personnel when they were setting up a checkpoint in the area. A CRPF personnel and a civilian, the three-year-old's grandfather, were killed in the attack.
Several Twitter and Facebook users claimed that the man was killed by CRPF personnel. Many also shared a video of the man's son claiming his father was brought down from the vehicle and killed by the CRPF.
Fact Check:
The claim that the civilian was killed by CRPF personnel is FALSE.
According to the first-hand information shared by the local police in Sopore, three CRPF jawans and the civilian were injured in the attack. They said the child was sitting near his grandfather's body and they had to block the view of the terrorists in hiding and save the child.
The Sopore police also took to Twitter and refute the claims.
Speaking to the media in J&K's Humhuma on 2 July, the additional director general (ADG) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) J&K zone, Zulfiquar Hasan said the civilian was killed during a terror attack and rubbished the claims that the CRPF had brought him down from his vehicle and killed him.
