Fact Check: No, Rishi Kapoor's video was not shot a day before his death
By Satya Priya BN Published on 1 May 2020 8:06 AM GMTBollywood has lost two legends in less than 24 hours. Even before fans could come to terms with Irfan Khan's death, the demise of superstar Rishi Kapoor has left everyone in a state of shock.
Soon after Rishi Kapoor's death, a video of the actor on a hospital bed blessing a hospital staffer for singing a song went viral. It was claimed that the Video has been shot a day before the actor's death in the hospital.
This video has been shared on Facebook.
The video hit the mainstream media too. Many news websites, including Hindustan Times and Times of India, also reported about the video.
Fact Check:
When the keyframes extracted from the video were used to perform a reverse image search in Google, we found that the oldest version of this video was uploaded on a YouTube channel on February 4, 2020.
This video was uploaded by Dheeraj Kumar Sanu on his own YouTube channel.
We also found another video of Dheeraj Kumar Sanu, explaining that this video is NOT before Rishi Kapoor's death. It was shot on February 2, 2020.
We also found the Instagram account of the same person, where he shared his pictures with Rishi Kapoor.
In 2018, Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer and was treated in New York. Early this year, he experienced breathing difficulties and was admitted to a hospital in Delhi. The actor was admitted to HN Reliance Foundation Hospital on Tuesday evening where he passed away on Wednesday.
Though the video is true and was shot when the actor was in the hospital, the claim shared along with it is MISLEADING. The video was shot on February 2, 2020. It is probably NOT his last video and certainly NOT shot on his death bed.
Hence, the claim is MISLEADING.
