A photograph of an angry mob, wearing saffron scarves and carrying swords, attacking a person has gone viral on social media, along with the claim that the RSS is a terrorist organisation that is controlling the government.

Similar photos with similar claims have also been shared on social media.

Fact Check:

The viral photograph is from a 2007 movie Parzania. A Google reverse image search led to an IMDB result which showed that the image was from the movie.

According to IMDB, Parzania stars Naseeruddin Shah and Sarika in lead roles and traces the journey of the Pithawala family in trying to locate their son during the 2002 Gujarat riots.

We also found that this image has been used by the Indian Express in a report about nine Bollywood movies that portrayed Hindu-Muslim tension.

NewsMeter also checked the CIA's list of terrorist groups operating in various countries and did not find RSS on the list.

Hence, the viral photograph does not show RSS members attacking a man. It is an image taken from a Bollywood movie.
