Hyderabad: A video claiming that shoes were hurled at Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has gone viral on social media. The post claims that MP CM is now being 'welcomed' with slippers and shoes.


A similar claim was made on Twitter as well.


Multiple social media users posted the video with similar claims on Facebook and Twitter.


The viral video is old. The claim is FALSE.

With the help of Invid tool, we extracted the keyframes and found a video uploaded by NDTV and TOI on September 3, 2018, claiming that stones and slippers were thrown at Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a rally.

According to these reports, A shoe was hurled at Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan during a public meeting. The shoe was hurled at the CM while he was addressing the meeting. Although the shoe did not hit the CM, the attacker was soon overpowered by the cops and the party workers. Before this, a bus carrying the CM was attacked in Churhat area of Sidhi district. The CM was not injured in the attack which took place during his Jan Aashirvad Yatra. Assembly elections are to be held in Madhya Pradesh at the end of this year, and both BJP and the Congress have already begun campaigning.

Stones and slippers were hurled at Madhya Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Churhat on Monday. The Chief Minister's Jan Ashirwad Rath was also shown black flags during a campaign rally. The state BJP has blamed the Congress as Churhat is the constituency of opposition leader Ajay Singh. The window of the bus was damaged but no one was injured in the incident.

Newsmeter also found an article by The Hindustan Times, Deccan Herald and My Nation claiming that shoes were thrown at Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sep 3, 2018.

Shoes were hurled at Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan is an old video from 2018 and not recent.

Hence, the claim is FALSE.
