Fact check: Warangal fish video passed off as Hyderabad floods

Normal life was thrown out of gear after heavy rains lashed Telangana. Waterlogging was reported from different localities in Hyderabad. Several colonies are still flooded, even though the rains have stopped.

A video showing fishes swimming in a flooded house is viral on social media. The video has been shared on Facebook and WhatsApp with a caption: "Fish farming in Greater Hyderabad".

Fact Check:

The claim that the viral video belongs to Hyderabad floods is FALSE.

When searched on the internet using the keyframes, we found that though this video was is from Warangal. It was shot in August 2020.

We found several Youtube videos posted by local media outlets stating that 'Fishes Inside House Due To Floods In Warangal.

Due to heavy rains, Warangal experienced flash floods in August 2020. Here are reports from India Today and Times of India in August 2020 on Warangal floods.

Hence, the viral video is not related to Hyderabad rains and floods. This is a video of the August Warangal floods. So, the claim is FALSE.
