Fact check:  Old image of Gujarat passed off as Yogi Adityanaths rally in Kerala

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off BJPs Vijay Yatra in Kerala on February 21, 2021. He visited Kasaragod district ahead of assembly polls in the state scheduled to be held in May 2021. CM Yogi also addressed a rally.

Several images of this gathering are in circulation on social media. An image of a large human formation of Lotus, the BJP symbol is going viral. This image is being shared with the claim that it was shot in Yogi Adityanath's rally in Kerala and is recent.

Fact Check:

The claim that the viral image is from Yogi Adityanath's Kerala rally is FALSE.

Although there was a huge crowd at Yogi Adityanath's rally in Kerala, the viral image is not related to the event.

We can see several images of the gathering in various news reports but nowhere there is a mention of Human Lotus formation during the event.

Here are the images shared by Yogi Adityanath's official Twitter handle.

When the viral image was searched using Google reverse image search, we found that it has been online since 2015. BJP's Dahod unit of Gujarat created a 1 lakh sqft human flag. Around 30,000 party workers from 1,407 booths and 650 villages were roped in to mark the 35th foundation day of BJP in Gujarat.

According to Desh Gujarat.com, 33% part of the human flag was created by party women karyakarta who were wearing green sarees. Saffron part of BJP's flag was created by party karyakarta who were wearing a saffron t-shirt and caps.

400×250 ft flag' white part was created by Dahod city and taluka karyakarta, while BJYM workers created a black border by wearing black t-shirts and caps. The event was attended by Anandiben Patel, RC Faldu, Bhupendrasinh Cudasama, a key organizer of this event and district BJP in charge of Dahod.

The same images were also shared on the publications twitter handle.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared the same image on Twitter.

Hence, the viral image is not related to Yogi Adityanath's rally in Kerala. It is a 2015 image from the Gujarat BJP foundation day celebrations.
