HYDERABAD: A screengrab of a news bulletin by ABP News showing results of the election survey is viral on social media. It is being claimed that the survey is linked to the upcoming 2022 elections in Uttar Pradesh and Bahujan Samaj Party has won maximum seats.

"If elections are held in UP today, Bahujan Samaj Party would get 185 seats out of 403, Samajwadi Party would get 80 seats Samajwadi Party, Bharatiya Janata Party would get 120 seats and Congress would get 13 seats," ABP survey screenshot said.

FACT CHECK:

NewsMeter found it is an old survey conducted in 2016.

The survey was discussed in a news bulletin by ABP in March 2016. The news channel uploaded the video on Youtube on March 16, 2016. The viral screengrab can be seen at 1.38 minutes.

In March 2016, ABP News had conducted a survey for an election to find out which party would receive more support if elections were held now. It was found that the Bahujan Samaj Party would get 185 seats. This survey was conducted with regard to the elections that were scheduled in 2017.

On March 16, 2016, ABP News also tweeted about the survey.

Clearly, the viral screengrab and results are from a 2016 survey.

On December 11, 'ABP News' released the results of a survey it conducted with regards to the upcoming 2022 Uttar Pradesh elections. The latest survey states that the Bahujan Samaj Party is expected to receive 12 to 24 seats, Bharatiya Janata Party would receive 212-224 seats, Samajwadi Party would receive 151-163 seats and Congress would receive 2-10 seats.

Similarly, a few days ago, a screenshot of an old survey by Aaj Tak went viral on social media that claimed that Mayawati is the most popular CM candidate in UP. However, that too was from a 2016 survey conducted by Aaj Tak for the 2017 elections. (Click here to read)
