Fact Check: Video game simulation falsely shared as Hamas attacking Israeli tanks in Gaza

Hyderabad: A 12-minute video of several tanks being destroyed by missile attacks is being shared on social media, with users claiming that it shows Hamas attacking Israeli tanks and the United States Delta Forces during the latter’s attempt to enter Gaza.

Facebook users have shared the video with the caption, “10 Minutes Ago! Hamas’ Kornet missiles destroyed Israeli tanks and US Delta Forces entering Gaza.”

Fact Check

NewsMeter verified that the video does not show a real incident. It was created using Arma 3, a video game simulator.

On performing a reverse image search, we found the video on YouTube, published by a channel named PRO LRR on October 29.

The video’s description said that the video shows a virtual game simulation created using Arma 3. It also mentioned that the channel uses the software to simulate incidents featured in the news.

Here is a comparison of the same visuals from both videos.

Further, we checked several videos on the YouTube channel and found the same disclaimer in the description, stating that the video had been generated using Arma 3. Click here and here to view some of their videos.

The About section of the channel also mentioned that they use ArmA 3 to create military simulations on the channel.

Hence, we conclude that the viral video is a video game simulation and does not show a real event of Hamas attacking Israeli tanks and the United States Delta Forces during their attempt to enter Gaza. The claim is false.
