Hyderabad: A video of a man flinging a burqa-clad girl to the ground is being shared with the claim that a Hindu man flung a Muslim child to the ground because she was on her way to an Islamic school.
A Twitter user shared the video and wrote, "India is steeped in racism and discrimination against Muslims. Unfortunately, it is increasing with the support of the Indian government. In Kerala, an extremist Hindu flung a 9-year-old Indian Muslim girl because she was on her way to Islamic school!" (Translated)

Fact Check
NewsMeter performed a reverse image of the video's keyframe and found an article from 17 November 2022 published by Manorama News carrying screenshots of the video. It said that the man who assaulted the girl is Abu Bakar Siddique and has been arrested by the police.
According to The News Minute, the incident took place on 17 November outside the Isha-athul Uloom Kendra madrasa in Manjeshwar of Kasargod. After checking the CCTV footage, the girl's uncle identified the accused as Abu Bakar Siddique.
An FIR has been registered in the Manjeshwar police station based on the girl's statement. He has been booked under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 9 read with 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act (aggravated sexual assault).
India Today and The Times of India also reported the incident.
The media outlets have not reported any communal angle, and the police have also not registered FIR under any section which entails violating communal harmony. Hence, we conclude that any claim of communal angle is misleading.
