Fact Check

A NewsMeter investigation found that the video is from Karachi, Pakistan.

We found people holding Pakistan’s flag in the video, which gave us a cue that it could be from Pakistan. We ran a keyword search on YouTube and found that the video was published by a channel called Real Indian on June 6, 2022. The caption stated that Pakistani people are driving over the Indian flag.

On analysing the video, we noticed the Sanam Boutique board hanging in front of the shops in the video. Taking this as a cue, we looked for Sanam Boutique in Pakistan on Google Maps and found the shop located in Karachi.

Using Street View, we could confirm that the board in the viral video and Google Maps are identical.

We could also identify the buildings near the shop on Google Maps that are also seen in the viral video.

With these findings, we conclude that the viral video showing disrespect for the Indian Tricolour is from Karachi, Pakistan, not Kerala in India. The claim is false.
