Fact Check: Virat Kohli endorses charity app ‘Aviator by Ambani’? No, video is AI-manipulated
Claim:The video shows cricketer Virat Kohli endorsing a charity project called Aviator by Ambani, which can help Indians increase their income.
Fact:The claim is false. The audio of Mukesh Ambani, Anant Ambani and Virat Kohli has been manipulated using AI.

Hyderabad: A video circulating on social media features businessman Mukesh Ambani allegedly announcing a charity initiative called Aviator by Ambani, which claims to transform the lives of Indians by enabling them to earn up to Rs 50,000 per day.

In the video, his son Anant Ambani follows up with an announcement of a 500 per cent bonus on the first deposit in the app. The video concludes with cricketer Virat Kohli allegedly endorsing the app and stating that he has invested in it.

In the video, the three can be heard saying the following statements:

Mukesh Ambani: “I have launched a charity project to help every resident of India. My son’s app, Aviator by Ambani, has already changed the lives of many who have downloaded it. The app is free and allows users to earn up to Rs 50,000 per day effortlessly—just by using their smartphones.”

Anant Ambani: “I am offering a 500 per cent bonus on the first deposit in the app. Deposit Rs 400 and get a chance to receive my bonus.”

Virat Kohli: “I have personally invested my own money in Aviator by Ambani so that substantial rewards can be given every day. To win, all you need to do is press the button at the right time when the multiplier is high. Just download the app and see for yourself.”

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the claim is false. Ambanis have not made any announcement regarding any such investment app. The viral video has been manipulated using AI.

Mukesh Ambani’s clip

We noticed the India Today logo in the frames showing Mukesh Ambani speaking. Taking this cue, we conducted a relevant keyword search and found the original video published on India Today’s YouTube channel on March 23, 2017, titled ‘India Today Conclave 2017: Mukesh Ambani On How Technology Will Transform India.’

The video shows Mukesh Ambani speaking at the 16th India Today Conclave about the role of technology and how it will transform India. However, we found no mention of any charity project named ‘Aviator by Ambani’ in the original footage.

Anant Ambani’s clip

A reverse image search of Anant Ambani’s keyframes from the video led us to the original footage published by ABP News on January 4, 2025. The video shows Anant Ambani speaking at the 25th anniversary celebration of the Jamnagar refinery, where he reaffirmed his commitment to his father’s vision and the region’s development. He also expressed his passion for animals and the Vantara initiative and emphasised Reliance’s goal of transforming the Jamnagar refinery into the best in the world. Notably, the video does not show Anant announcing any bonus on the first deposit in the Aviator by Ambani app.

Virat Kohli’s clip

A reverse image search of Kohli’s keyframes led us to a 46-minute podcast published on the YouTube channel of Royal Challengers Bengaluru on February 26, 2023, titled ‘Virat Kohli on EatSure Presents RCB Podcast Full Episode.’

We also found an over two-minute clip from the podcast published by the franchise on the same date titled, ‘Virat Kohli opens up about his camaraderie with MS Dhoni on EatSure presents RCB Podcast.’

These videos also do not show Kohli endorsing any charity gaming app by the Ambanis.

Authenticity of audio

We analysed the video using the AI-detection tool Hive Moderation. The tool determined that the audio of the three was AI-generated with a 99 per cent confidence score, while the clips remained original. The overall analysis concluded that the video contained AI-generated or deepfake content with 99.8 per cent certainty.

Recently, NewsMeter debunked a similar AI-manipulated video that featured Mukesh Ambani, Anant Ambani, Virat Kohli, and Hrithik Roshan allegedly promoting an investment gaming app with the same name, Aviator by Ambani, supposedly launched by the Ambanis.

Therefore, we conclude that, similar to the previously debunked video, this video featuring the Ambanis and Virat Kohli was created by combining clips from different sources, with the audio manipulated using AI.
