Father sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for raping minor daughter

Hyderabad: A local court in Hyderabad that hears POSCO cases sentenced a man to ten years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting his minor daughter. In a judgement that was issued on November 19, the court also slapped him a fine of Rs 2,000, besides life imprisonment.

The facts of the case are that the man, who usually comes home in an inebriated condition, sexually harassed his ten-year-old daughter at their residence in Alwal. He would threaten her, saying that he will kill her mother and younger siblings if she does not co-operate with him.

The girl realised what her father had been doing to her, after watching a presentation at her school about good touch and bad touch. Following this, the victim disclosed the matter to her teacher and mother, who further registered a complaint under Alwal police station.

During the trial, the court granted a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the minor from the victim compensation fund.
