Home they brought their warrior dead: Final rites of Col Santosh Babu on Thursday
By Newsmeter Network Published on 17 Jun 2020 7:37 PM ISTHyderabad: The mortal remains of Colonel Santosh Babu, who was killed in action, during a violent face-off with the Chinese army at Galwan Valley in Ladakh, reached Hyderabad on Wednesday evening.
A special aircraft carrying the commanding officer, landed at the Air Force Hakimpet at around 7.30 PM, June 17th.
After the guard of honor, the mortal remains was shifted to his hometown in Suryapet via road. Meanwhile, Suryapet district administration have made arrangements for final journey of Santosh Babu at the Hindu Smashana Vatika in the town.
Colonel B Santosh Babu is an alumni of Sainik School Korukonda and National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. The officer was commissioned into the Bihar Regiment from Indian Military Academy, Dehradun and went on to complete the prestigious Defence Service Staff Course from Wellington before taking over the command of his Battalion.
He is survived by his wife Mrs B Santosh and two children, who reached Hyderabad for the last rites accompanied by officials of Headquarters Telangana and Andhra Sub Area." The last rites of Colonel Santosh Babu will be performed with full Military honours tomorrow at his home town Suryapet in presence of family members and well-wishers," The Amry officials informed
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has designated Minister E Jagadish Reddy to offer tributes on behalf of the state government.
Well wisher continue to pour in at his home to pay their respects to the brave officer.
