Greater Warangal Master Plan-2041 set for Jan release
By Newsmeter Network Published on 30 Dec 2019 12:10 PM GMTWarangal Envisioning into the future, Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) will release its ambitiously carved Master Plan-2041 for Greater Warangal in the first week of January.
This assurance was given by Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister K T Rama Rao (KTR) while interacting with Twitterati on various issues.
Stakeholders from Greater Warangal, which includes the adjoining villages, are eagerly waiting for an early approval of the master plan. The draft master plan, which was put in public domain, is one of the longest exercises the KUDA has undertaken. The plan is aimed at addressing the needs of the residents for the next two decades. It has land use zones like commercial, residential, mixed, public and semi-public (red), industrial, public utilities, growth corridors and recreational zones.
A majority of those living in villages on the outskirts reacted rather emotionally and raised objections to the draft plan at an official public hearing organised by KUDA. They have submitted numerous petitions seeking redressal to their grievances, include replacing public and semi-public zone with a residential zone.
Unhappy with the declaration of Mamnoor village as public and semi-public zone, around 200 farmers took to the streets in August 2018 and blocked the Warangal-Khammam highway. They were pacified by local TRS leaders.
The preliminary work of the master plan began in June 2017 and was notified in May 2018 for public reactions and objections, under provisions of Telangana Urban Areas (Development) Act 1975.
