By Dheeshma Published on 18 May 2020 6:44 PM GMTHyderabad: Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TSHRC) on Monday asked Hyderabad Commissioner of Police to submit a report after a woman techie complained that cops of Chikkadpally police station used expletives and forced her to remove the mask before clicking her pictures near Tank Bund.
She has named Sub-Inspector R Kotesh, two constables, P Arun Kumar and G Arvind Sagar, of Chikkadpally police station in her complaint.
According to the complainant, she and her brother were on their way home after an evening walk near the Tank Bund when two constables stopped them. After quizzing, police directed them to remove masks and started clicking photos of the woman.
āWhen my brother objected, they said they are going to register a complaint against us. I apologized for stepping out of our house. I clarified that we had stepped out after two months just to take some fresh air. My brother recently had a heart stroke and I had a fracture in my leg. So doctors have advised us to go for a walk,ā she said.
According to the woman, cops resorted to moral policing claiming that they are a couple and started using abusive language.
Later, the woman called her father to the spot. According to the complainant, soon after her father arrived, one of the constables passed casteist remarks. She said while he tried to explain the matter, he was dragged towards the van.
āThey snatched mobile phones of my father and brother when they tried to film their behavior. They also seized the bike," she said. Police have registered an FIR against the family.
