Hyderabad court sentences man to 10 years imprisonment for raping six-year-old boy

Hyderabad: The First Additional Metropolitan Sessions court in Hyderabad, which deals with POCSO cases, sentenced a 20-year-old man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually abusing a minor boy. In a judgment that was issued on October 24, the court also slapped him with a fine of Rs 3,000.

On January 6, 2019, the accused, Mohd Afroz Khan, kidnapped the six-year-old victim who was playing with his friends at a junction next to his house. The convict reportedly took the victim to a nearby hillock and committed to engaging in non-consensual unnatural sex(man sentenced for rape). Soon after the act, the accused fled the spot.

The victim, who managed to reach his home, bleeding, disclosed the ordeal to his parents. The boyā€™s parents further registered a case at Kanchanbagh police station. The complaint read, ā€œOn January 6, 2019, at 10:30 pm, while the victim was playing with other children besides his house, a lean and fair stranger, belonging to his locality kidnapped the victim to a nearby hillock and forcibly committed an unnatural sexual act on man sentenced for rape. Due to this, the victim felt severe pain, shouted and cried aloud. The stranger, then, left the victim and ran away.ā€

Following the complaint, an FIR was filed under sections 363 (kidnapping) and 377 (unnatural offences) of IPC, and parts of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. The conviction is a result of a 10-month-long investigation.
