Hyderabad doctor attempts suicide, identifies himself as 'Mrutyunjaya'
By Newsmeter Network Published on 31 March 2020 6:51 AM GMTHyderabad: A doctor allegedly attempted suicide by setting his flat on fire at Rajendranagar in Hyderabad on Tuesday morning.
Identified as Dr. Md Adam Shafi alias CM Rao, he had set curtains and bedding on fire. However, firemen immediately swung into action and rescued him from the inferno. Later he said he had taken the step because he wanted to go to God.
The fire department said around 7.10 am, they received an SOS call about the fire on the fourth floor of Janapriya apartments at Attapur.
Fireteams immediately rushed to the spot and found that the grill door of the flat was locked. The main door was also latched from inside. When they broke into the flat, it was filled with thick smoke. They found a person lying on the floor.
Fire department officials said the man identified himself as Mrutyunjaya. However, he fell unconscious due to suffocation. Sources said had there been a slight delay, he would have died due of asphyxiation
Inquiries also revealed that he had recorded a selfie video on his mobile detailing reasons for suicide. He was rushed to a private hospital and his condition is said to be critical. Meanwhile, Rajendranagar police registered a case and started the investigation.
