Hyderabad Genpact techie commits suicide over disputes with wife

Hyderabad: A 35-year-old Genpact techie committed suicide on 2 June here allegedly over frequent disputes with his wife. Maddela Srinivas’ body was found in a lake at KPHB on Tuesday morning. Based on the registration number of a motorbike parked beside the lake, the police identified his body and informed his family.

The KPHB police said Srinivas married Alekhya a few years ago and the couple lived in Mettuguda in Hyderabad. On Saturday, the couple had quarrelled over a petty issue and both their families had intervened and tried to pacify them. On Monday morning, Srinivas left home on his motorbike to drop his sister. When he did not return home that evening, Alekhya called his family members and friends but no one knew of his whereabouts.

On Tuesday morning, she went to the Chilkalguda police station and lodged a missing person complaint. Meanwhile, the KPHB police informed her that a man had drowned in the Bathukamma lake and a TVS Jupiter bike (TS10 EN2621) was found parked near the lake.

Srinivas' family members rushed to the lake and identified his body. The victims' cousin, Srikanth, told the police that Srinivas was under stress due to frequent quarrels with his wife over family issues. Unable to bear this, he had jumped into the lake and committed suicide, Srikanth told the police. Based on his complaint, the KPHB police have registered a case and started an investigation.
