Hyderabad welcomes around 400 leap year babies on Feb 29

Hyderabad: Many Hospitals in the city welcomed babies to the world on the leap year day on Saturday.

The blessed parents expressed their happiness as they knew the importance of the day. Although they stated that their children cannot celebrate birthdays every year, they were happy that the unique date sets them apart from other children.

Officials estimate that 350-400 deliveries might have taken place in both private and government hospitals out of which cesarean babies were less in number.

A total of 11 children were born in Niloufer hospital and between 60 and 80 across hospitals in Sultan Bazar, Petlaburj and King Koti whereas around 60-70 children were born in corporate hospitals.

The urban community health centre (UCHC) belonging to the Vaidya Vidhana Parishad, Sriramnagar, Rahmath Nagar division saw the birth of two girls-at Hemavathi Nagar in Erragadda around 2:25 am and another at Indira Nagar Basti in Rahmath Nagar division at 2:34 pm.

Around 25 children were born on the leap day in Vijayawada out of which, 6 births were recorded at the Old Government hospital in the city. Many parents postponed C section deliveries on leap day as their kids will have to celebrate their birthday once every four years.
