Hyderabad woman, son arrested for assaulting cop who stopped them at checkpost
By Newsmeter Network Published on 3 April 2020 4:32 PM GMTHyderabad: A woman and her son assaulted police officers who stopped them at a check-post and questioned them in Malkajgiri, Hyderabad. Videos of the incident show the woman holding an officer's collar and abusing him.
Malkajgiri police registered a case against Zeenath Begum, a housewife, and her son Yousuf Khan, a painter, under various sections of the Disaster Management Act 2005, the Epidemic Disease Act 1897, and the Motor Vehicles Act. The duo was arrested on Friday.
According to the police, Zeenath, her son, and her husband were riding a motorbike and were stopped at the check-post near Lalapet. Since three of them were on the motorbike, the police asked for the vehicle documents and also the purpose of stepping out of their home during the lockdown.
In response, Zeenath assaulted head constable A. Damodar Reddy. Her son joined her and attacked the police officers with a stick. The mother and son also abused the cops. The cops repeatedly told them to stop but Zeenath continued her assault following which they were forced inside the patrolling vehicle and taken to the police station. Based on Mr Damodar Reddyās complaint, a case was registered and the duo arrested.
