Anakapalle: Andhra Pradesh Police have ordered ordered a probe after Deputy Superintendent of Police B Sunil Kumar allegedly used a drug smuggler’s seized Swift car for personal purpose after changing its number plate. According to reports, police had seized a Scorpio car after 220 kgs of ganja was recovered from it in the Anakapalli district.

Car owner K Singh from Rajasthan was taken into custody last November. Later, Singh’s personal car Swift was also seized and kept at the police station. Senior officers were allegedly using this fancy-colored Swift car.

On February 1, DSP Sunil Kumar, who is posted in Anakapalli, allegedly took his family on a drive using the seized Swift car in Visakhapatnam. He also allegedly changed the number plate. Unfortunately, he rammed into another car on Beach Road.

The car owner took pictures on his mobile and posted them on social media. Some social media users identified him from the pictures and send clippings to senior police officials.

Sources said Anakapalli police chief Gowthami Sali appointed Additional SP to probe into the incident. ”We will let you know soon,’’ the SP told newsmen when asked about the misuse of the vehicle.
