Political parties are leaving nothing to chance. In a bid to entice voters, every possible strategy is being adopted. Though well placed in its constituencies, the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) is also getting its act together. Itās biryani diplomacy that the party has hit upon. A fragrant bouquet in the political arena.
For a change, some marriage halls in the city are hosting political conclaves. They are getting transformed into epicurean paradises. The aroma of fragrant spices waft through the air as chefs stir huge cauldrons of biryani ā their culinary magic drawing the curious and the hungry. The tantalizing plan to capture the hearts and votes of people is working wonders for the Majlis.
The attendees are welcomed with open arms, promise of a delicious meal, and a side serving of political persuasion. It is a sight to behold as people from different walks of life sit together, savor the rich fare, and go back home with the message to vote for the Majlis.
Apart from the common man, Masjid Imams and religious leaders are also being roped in to deliver the message of unity. Under the present conditions prevailing in the country, it is imperative that the community remains united and elects the Majlis candidates during the upcoming polls. With a resurgent Congress trying to make inroads in the Old City where Majlis hold sway, people are told that it will be a big loss to the community if the Majlis candidates were to suffer defeat. The big guns of Majlis are also taking part in these meetings. But mostly it is left to the party functionaries to address the concerns and dreams of the common man.
In the last few days, such meetings have taken place in Malakpet, Nampally, and Karwan Assembly constituencies where politics is seamlessly blended with the pleasure of dining. In a subtle and not-so-subtle manner, the attendees are told to vote for the Majlis. In the run-up to the elections, Hyderabadis are in for more such programmes. And in the process, the sumptuous biryani has transcended its culinary status to become a symbol of democracy in action.
