The event featured health practitioners from the Central Wellness Clinic in Hong Kong who provided essential care to the children
By Beyniaz Edulji Published on 13 Oct 2024 10:05 AM GMTHyderabad: On October 11-12, the Zoroastrian Club in Secunderabad hosted a charity event for the benefit of 50 children from Spandana Childrenās Home in Nagole.
After a recent decree prohibiting boys from entering a CCI girlsā home, Spandana was unable to host the camp on their premises. In response, the Zoroastrian Club generously opened their doors to the social cause and provided the Sports Complex as a venue for the event.
Spandana is the brainchild of Uttam Kumar and Shobha Rani. The event featured a team of health practitioners from the Central Wellness Clinic in Hong Kong, Dr Damien Mouellic, Dr Guillaume Giroud and Dr Ayelet Assor who provided essential care and support to the children.
Spandana, which offers shelter, education and care to children who have been orphaned, abandoned or are in distress, collaborated with the Central Wellness Clinic for the second year. This partnership was fostered by Anjali Daryanani, one of Spandanaās directors based in Hong Kong.
The health camp was led by a team of osteopaths and fitness instructors who focused on preventative care. Each child received an individual consultation addressing their skeletal, muscular, cranial and overall physical health.
The practitioners developed personalised treatment plans for the children, including recommended exercises and physical therapy practices to promote better long-term health.
The participating children were aged from 7 to 22 years and attend English-medium private schools and they have thrived in the nurturing environment provided by Spandana. Due to the health camp, they now have valuable tools and guidance to maintain their physical well-being.
The primary mission of Spandana Society (also known as the Spandana Childrenās Home) is to provide a loving, nurturing environment to children who have nowhere else to turn to, and to build with them a promising pathway to a bright future.
Whether it is losing parents to HIV/AIDS, being rescued from child labour, malnourishment or situations with an acute need for intervention, Spandana directly intervenes and welcomes children into our family who deserve a better life.
Childrenās benefit
Currently, the Spandana Childrenās Home has 90 children under their care and guardianship, aged 6 years to 21 years old. Approximately half of the children are girls, and the other half are boys.
Spandana collaborates with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), an Indian government initiative, which is the operation that discovers cases of children who are in need. Itās through the CWC that the children have found their way to Spandana.
